The Asset Finance application form is a Merge document that can be generated from the data in your People and Opportunity records, and from the Asset Finance Calculator.
At this stage, application forms have only been created for Companies and Individuals.
What data populates the Asset Finance application form
Most sections of the application form will be automatically populated when you generate the merge document, however, merge tags do not exist for all fields at present.
The following fields currently do not have merge tags, and will need to be manually updated after the application form has been generated as a merge document.
- Partners/Directors/Individual/Guarantors
- Trade References
- Credit References

Ensuring your application populates correctly
The data that is populated into the Asset Finance application form comes from People and Opportunity records, as well as the Asset Finance Calculator.
To ensure the correct information comes through you will need to note the following:
- The correct calculation is ticked as 'default'. When you generate the Merge document, it will populate the calculation that has been attached to the Opportunity and has been ticked as the default calculation.
- The correct contact has been selected as the Primary Applicant. If the application is for a company, then the company contact record needs to be marked as the Primary Applicant. If the application is for an Individual, then the person contact record needs to be marked as the Primary Applicant.
- The correct application form has been used for the Applicant type. The merge tags used in the Applicant section on each application form are different, as the applicant types are different. If you use the incorrect application form the applicant details will either not populate or will populate incorrectly. To avoid this remember, if the Primary Applicant is an individual, use the individual application form. If the Primary Applicant is a Company, use the Company Application form.
- The application form is being generated as a Word Document (not a PDF). At present these are some sections that will not populate on the application form and will need to be manually updated. Ensure you choose the option to generate the application form as a Word Document so that you can complete the blank fields.

How to use the Asset Finance application form
Before you start: Ensure you have completed the Opportunity and People records, and the Asset Finance Calculation accordingly, that you have linked the correct contact, and have marked the correct calculation as default.
- Open the Opportunity and click on Merge Document
- Select the correct Application Merge Template and hit Choose
- Complete the remaining sections in the application form
- Save & Send to the client
