To keep your contacts engaged with you and your content, it's important to only send communications that are timely and relevant to them. The Digital Marketing Hub allows you to do this by segmenting your contacts based on engagement, tags and other contact data. One of the most popular ways to segment your database is through tags (people categories in Mercury Nexus).
When you create people categories in Mercury Nexus and assign them to your contacts, these people categories will push across to your Digital Marketing Hub account as a tag. A tag is useful to use in a segment when you are wanting to send a communication to a targeted group of contacts or automations.
How to create a new category in Mercury Nexus:
- You need Admin level access to manage categories.
- In the Admin tab select CRM Settings in the left panel and click on People Categories.
- Use the Plus and delete icons to add and remove categories. Double click on a category to change the name.

*Remember, people categories in Mercury Nexus are pushed across to your Digital Marketing Hub account as a tag on the contact record.
